The voice is like the wind, invisible but strong. The voice is part of us. The voice, every voice, is always outdoors and does not have a roof under which to shelter. The voice has weight.
“Voice!” Is the call that comes when you talk too softly, and it is an invitation that the writer has always made his: writing, just like the voice, is born near the heart but rises towards the thoughts.
We know: there are voices that raise power and make you listen with pleasure, there are voices that fall and that must be recovered and raised: to listen we must know how to approach. Are there rumors that are lost, and are not they supposed to “lose their voice?” And it happens to many, too many people.
Dedicating the XXI edition of scrittorincittà to the voices means celebrating thought and sharing, the possibility is a dream and a little ‘made that different voices can live together, make communities, find listening and understanding.
Umberto Eco said that “Who does not read, at the age of 70 will have lived only one life: his own. The reader will have lived 5000 years: when Cain killed Abel, when Renzo married Lucia, when Leopardi admired the infinite … because reading is a backward immortality ». This is the purpose of the many voices of writing.
The hard breath of those who complete their sporting enterprise, the breath held by those who discover something new, is the voice. The noise of a pen that is placed when you put the end point to a thought, when you put a brush at the end of a painting. Voice is music and song, voice is story. As the most beautiful illustrated books for children teach us, the images and every other artistic expression of the man are also a voice.
The voices of Writings are also distinguished when they sing in chorus, and listen to others even when they sing alone. Being inspired by the voices means thinking of the voices that run in the streets and in the news, and to those who grab them and use them; reflect on too many “master’s voices” that hinder freedom and humanity; to think about the “dictionary entries”, that is, on words and their value in a world that seems to forget it; listen to the voices of tears, of pain; also listen to silence, which in its own way is a very strong voice.
The entry is valid for all ages. It has value when it is the “white voice” of children and girls, white as a sheet where you can still write the whole future. It is important when the voice changes, and the child becomes a boy and then young and then an adult. The voice accompanies us, the voices we want to accompany them.
Scrittorincittà edition XXI clears the voice and tries to clarify and give light to the voices that you hear, that you listen to, that have to say a lot, always. They are our voices, they are the voices of others. Voices of the verb to read.
