An opportunity to discover all the secrets of medieval cuisine: the tour “From the castle to the table”, is scheduled for Saturday, September 14th at 6pm at the castle of Roddi. The Barolo & Castles Foundation offers a guided tour in the manor dedicated to the history of the local gastronomic culture. A format very appreciated by visitors, made up of a path that winds between the noble floor and the ancient kitchens, dating back to the ‘500, to cross the installations of the Giacomo Morra Museum – The king of the truffle.
During the guided tour you can discover the secrets of medieval gastronomy and what was served on the noble and popular tables about over five centuries ago.
Many curiosities will be told during the journey, from the dietary habits of the time to the different typical dishes that were consumed on special occasions. And again, the differences between the foods available to the nobles and those on the farmers’ tables, the methods for cooking meat and vegetables, the more local crops and the foods imported from the New World, in addition to the most popular condiments. The visit ends with a toast with a glass of local wine.
