The 89th Alba White Truffle International Fair is just a few days away, an autumn event that allows you to discover the world and the charm of the Tuber magnatum Pico, the symbol of a territory universally known for the excellence of its food and wine heritage .

For the first time the most important local players for the valorisation of the area, the International White Truffle Fair of Alba, the Langhe Monferrato Roero Tourist Office, the National Truffle Study Centre in collaboration with the Alta Langa DOCG Consortium and the “Union of Piedmontese Trifulau Associations” celebrate the start of the “hunting season” with a real party.

“Tuber Primae Noctis”, this year held at the Pavaglione of San Bovo di Castino in the heart of the Alta Langa, wants to be an opportunity to toast the first night of the year in which the search for trifulau starts, a highly anticipated moment for all the Alba White Truffle lovers in Italy and around the world.

From Saturday 21 September to 31st January, in Piedmont, it will be possible to hunt the Tuber magnatum Pico and in this period, according to the regional law, the Alba White Truffle will enter restaurants, markets and shops.

The first day of “hunting” is therefore a solemn moment because it marks the beginning of the autumn season, announces the International White Truffle Fair and prepares the entire territory to welcome visitors and tourists from all over the world, creating a fundamental economic fallout for Langhe, Monferrato and Roero areas. The “truffle New Year” is also important because it informs all the estimators about this precious product consumption and purchase calendar. The National Truffle Studies Centre and the Union of Piedmontese Trifulau Associations take the opportunity to reiterate the need for a period of “biological cessation”, from 1st to 20th September each year, to avoid an excessive exploitation of the environment, which needs a fundamental period of rest to allow maturation of truffles, that can be enjoyed from 21st September onwards.

Tuber Primae Noctis is, for the first time, the occasion to celebrate, as announced by the theme of the 89th International White Truffle Fair, the perfect balance between natural environment and consumer.
