Preparations for the 2019 edition of “Peccati di Gola & XXII Regional Truffle Fair” have now reached the final stages, and the event is now included by the international association of Carlin Petrini among the “Excellent demonstrations in the sign of Slow Food”, which this year will take place from 1 to 3 November. The streets and squares of Mondovì will as always be the location that will be the setting for stands of local gastronomic excellence, cooking workshops, meetings, tastings and many other entertainment initiatives for adults and children, with important news. Starting from the new route, which opens in Corso Statuto and covers the entire historic center of the city by touching Piazza Roma and Via Beccaria, Piazza C. Battisti and Via S. Agostino, until reaching Piazza Maggiore, where the new area will be set up theme dedicated to chestnuts. Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore is the new setting of the Osteias of Golosi with traditional dishes, craft beers and the Winebar with a rich selection of DOCG wines of the territory, including those of the Bottega del Vino di Dogliani. Next to the project that brings DE.CO. del Monregalese, Sapori Autunnali, guest of honor the San Giovanni De.Co. of Imperia with its fish ravioli. To signal, then, the return of the “Melaviglia” pavilion in the Martiri della Libertà square, showcase of the gastronomic excellence of the Municipal Denomination of the whole Monregalese.

If the truffle is the only protagonist of Piazza Cesare Battisti, we found the positive response of many producers of De.Co. del Monregalese, which will make the ‘Melaviglia’ area richer than ever. A showcase of excellence for those local products that the Monregalese increasingly wants to value and know how to tell ”.
“Among the novelties of this year there will be the setting up of a new thematic area dedicated to chestnuts, called ‘Cuor di castagna’ – comments Massimo Barolo of Al.Fiere Snc, the company that, from the 2017 edition, is also involved in the organization of the event, as well as the preparation of stands and structures -. In Piazza Maggiore, at the exit of the funicular station, visitors will find to welcome them to the wooden chalets of roasted chestnuts cooked at the moment and mulled wine, managed by the Funicular Association with the Friends of Piazza, in addition to the Prea crib with the exhibition of ancient tools of the trade, the Monregalese chestnuts of the Azienda Agricola Marco Bozzolo and a green area of Dotta Vivai complete with chestnut harvest demonstrations. There will also be cultural moments taken care of by the “Accademia della Castagna Bianca”.
The new route designed for this edition starts from Corso Statuto, with the “Expo of taste”, a showcase of local artisan excellences, and continues with “Mangiamac – Street food in our own way” and “Birropolis”, the best food trucks and craft breweries in the province, in addition to “Melaviglia”, a journey through the De.Co, municipal denominations of the Monregalese. In Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore, known by the inhabitants of Mondovì as “cheese square”, the “Osterie dei Golosi” will be set up, a covered and heated area where you can eat the products of the territorial tradition, enriched with this year from the presence of the San Giovanni De.Co. Committee 001 of Imperia, and welcomed by the popular musical entertainment of “Peccati in Musica”. Piazzetta Comino will host the “Rakikorner”, which will feature the administration of pure rakiko and cocktails based on the typical Mondovì liqueur. Next, in Via Sant’Agostino, they will find space: the “Agorà della Gorge”, which will offer meetings and guided tastings with free admission by reservation managed by Slow Food Monregalese; the “Regional Truffle Fair: scents and flavors to be discovered” in Piazza Cesare Battisti, with the participation of the Truffle Study Center, which will offer the chance to those who purchase a truffle from the Trifolao of the Cebano Monregalese Association present on the spot, to have it checked and certify on the spot; the “Pan per focaccia” area, which will offer demonstrations of how to prepare pizza and focaccia in a shovel, as well as numerous workshops for everyone. In the area of via Beccaria and piazza Roma there will instead be “Peccati di gioco”, the area dedicated to children, with traditional games, Ludobus, a greedy itinerary dedicated to children and the musical entertainment of the Music School of Mondovì. On Saturday even the entertainment organized by the Bocce Quadre Association of Mondovì that will make all visitors, young and old alike, experience the popular game of bowls, but with colored wooden cubes.
The event will therefore continue in Piazza Maggiore, reachable by the funicular, where the preparation of “Cuor di castagna” and “Assapora la cultura”, in collaboration with the territorial ATL office, will be provided, which will not only offer information for the visit to monuments and museums, but, starting this year, also on “Infinitum”, an experience of immersive visit to the Church of the Mission and to the extraordinary pictorial cycle of Andrea Pozzo, to be discovered with the help of virtual reality. Finally, Piazza IV Novembre will be the location of “A scuola con gusto”, which will see the temporary exhibition of the collection of ancient instruments of Physics, the historical heritage of MuBec. Along the route of the event, the public will also find two information points, the first located at the entrance of Corso Statuto and the second near the “Agorà della gola” in Via S. Agostino.
