Cycling through the Langhe-Roero Monferrato vineyards

Two paths to discover the territories of Brachetto d’Acqui and Moscato d’Asti.

Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th the third edition of Pedalando in Unesco will take place, between Wellness and Nature, a festival dedicated to sport, history, culinary tradition and enhancement of the territory.

The provinces of Cuneo, Asti and Alessandria will be the center of attention in the two days in which cyclists of all ages, of various levels and with bicycles even with assisted pedaling, will find themselves pedaling through the wine landscapes of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato , UNESCO World Heritage Site for a total of 200 kilometers of road. A caravan led by the former professional Claudio Chiappucci and escorted by the special nucleus for the cultural assets of the civil protection of Acqui Terme.

After the rides aimed at enhancing the UNESCO cycle routes and a number of UNESCO sites throughout the Piedmont Region, the director of Radio Acqui Vallebormida Monferrato returns to his origins and chooses Acqui Terme and Canelli as meeting points. “Our radio station believes in the territory and every day keeps company with the Acquisians and the inhabitants of Asti and for this we want to cross part of the three provinces in which we transmit to give voice also to the two wheels. The departure is scheduled for Saturday, October 26th from Piazza Bollente at 10 am with a 90km route and 1200 meters difference in height to end always in the spa town in Piazza Levi, in front of the Municipality of Acqui Terme: the route will cross numerous municipalities of Brachetto as Strevi, Maranzana, Nizza Monferrato, Cassinasco, Vesime, Monastero Bormida and Bistagno. The intermediate refreshment at the Nizza Monferrato regional wine cellar and a final toast with Brachetto d’Acqui d.o.c.g. with the regional Acqui wine bar, thermal baths & wine. In the afternoon, tourists and cyclists can visit the Acqui thermal baths for a bit of relaxation.

Sunday 27 October is the turn with the path of Moscato d’Asti d.o.c.g. departing from Canelli at 9.30 am: 110 km and 1300 meters in altitude will have as a turning point the fraction of Pollenzo, a splendid UNESCO site that will be visited and intermediate refreshment point in collaboration with the Wine Bank and Municipality of Bra. The ring winds through a vast territory between Langhe-Roero and Monferrato. Arrival in the city of bubbles with a final toast with the nectar of the Gods at the Canelli and Astesana regional wine bar.
