Between the end of October and the beginning of November, before the grand finale with the closing party at the Filatoio di Caraglio scheduled for Sunday 24 November, there will be three proposals from the exhibition between Montemale and Castelmagno.
It will start Thursday, October 24th with an evening in Montemale dedicated to the black truffle of the already sold out Grana valley that will start at 7 pm with a dinner of black truffle from the Grana valley at the Trattoria del Castello. Special guests of the dinner will be director Fredo Valla and two chefs who often use black truffles in their culinary creations: Ezio Damiano, chef of Il Nuovo Zuavo in Cuneo and Juri Chiotti, chef of Reis – free mountain food in Frassino, who will make the ice cream that will be served as a dessert. At 10 pm there will be a screening of the documentary dedicated to the black truffle made by the documentary filmmaker Andrea Fantino as part of the Valle Grana project – Valley knowledge and flavours edited by the noau association | cultural workshop for the La Cevitou association. This is the first screening open to the public in the Granda after the world premiere at Gemona del Friuli on August 31st at the Sguardi sui territori festival. Visual anthropology and ecomuseums. The screening, which is included in the program of the week of Ecomuseums of Taste, will be reserved for dinner participants; at the end the director and some of the protagonists will tell curiosity and behind the scenes about the making of the documentar.
Sunday, October 27th in Montemale again the black truffle protagonist in one of the most appreciated EXPA events in the past editions of the show, which this year renews itself giving space also to another of the excellence of the Grana valley, the saffron. The day will begin at 10.30 am with a research activity on the black truffle of Montemale with dogs in the truffle farms of the Franco Viano farm to discover the peculiarities of this product (€ 5); at 13.00 there will be lunch with a truffle-based dish at the Trattoria del Castello (€ 15, drinks not included). At 15 o’clock, the spotlight will be on the saffron of the Grana valley with a walk on the hill among the saffron trees with Alessia Chiapale and Luca Cucchietti, producer partners of the Söfran Consortium and snack with tasting of saffron-based desserts (€ 5). Finally at 18.00 the day will be closed at the Trattoria del Castello with the screening of the documentary on the black truffle made by Andrea Fantino (free admission). Reservations are welcome for all activities by Thursday 24th October.
Saturday, November 2nd, you will discover a new proposal discovering the most ancient traditions of the high lands of Castelmagno, studied in synergy with the Relais La Font and the Rifugio Maraman. The meeting is scheduled for 10 am in the Chiappi hamlet of Castelmagno for a guided tour of the “Alpe Chastlar” farm to discover the production of the Castelmagno curd, an essential ingredient for the preparation of the famous ‘raviolas de Chastelmanh’; to follow at the Relais La Font there will be an educational workshop on raviolas. At 12.30 pm, lunch with a menu consisting of snacks, appetizers, raviolas, cheese and salami platter and desserts. The second part of the EXPA appointment, curated by the Maraman Refuge, will open at 5pm with a walk animated, from the square of the sanctuary of Castelmagno with the actor Luca Occelli amid myths, legends and stories of masche and will continue at 7.30pm at the refuge with an aperitif followed by live music. It is possible to participate in the whole day or just part of the proposals (€ 22 educational workshop on raviolas and lunch, € 10 animated walk and aperitif).
