The musical season includes a total of 12 events and an Off concert, all on the territory of the City of Mondovì.

It starts on Saturday 26th October at 5 pm, in the setting of the “Ghislieri” Room, with the baroque music of the Orchestra of the Academia Montis Regalis which hosts Boris Begelman, a virtuoso native of Moscow and now residing in Italy, in the double role of solo violin and director.

The Academia Orchestra will again be the protagonist on the evening of November 29th in the “Ghislieri” Hall. This time soloist and conductor will be Enrico Onofri, who will propose to the public the splendid Concerti grossi op. VI by Arcangelo Corelli.

On December 13 we will move, instead, to the “Baretti” Theater, completely changing genre, as the title of the evening suggests: “GGGG – Giampiero Gregorio in Giorgio Gaber”. The theater-song of Gaber will be repeated by Gregorio, a well-known Monregalese artist, for the occasion flanked, among others, by Igor Giuffré.

The following week, on December 20 at 9.00 pm, the Orchestra, Soloists and Choir of the Municipal Music School are called for the traditional Christmas Concert, an occasion for celebration and exchange of greetings, with a repertoire of great quality, carefully balanced between music cultured and popular genres. The concert will be performed in the Cathedral of San Donato.

The Off event is scheduled for Thursday 16th January at the Baretti Theater with a special evening by the historic Italian band Modena City Ramblers, which presents the “number zero” of the 2020 tour that will visit important cities of the Peninsula.

The evening of January 24th will be dedicated to jazz with a project curated by Cinzia Tedesco that involves no less than Giuseppe Verdi with his famous opera arias in a very curious contamination between genres.

Also at Baretti, on February 7th at 9pm, it will be the turn of the highly anticipated appointment with Lou Dalfin, a popular popular music group, which will present an unpublished show: “Vijé, tales in a night of vigil”.

We return to the Ghislieri Hall for subsequent appointments starting from the afternoon of Saturday 14th March, date of the concert of the award-winning mandolin Orchestra of Asti, founded in 1924 and dedicated to the international virtuoso Pietro Paniati.

On April 4th, Enrico Onofri will be back on stage, this time at the helm of the Youth of the Academia Montis Regalis, a band that annually brings together some of the most interesting European talents in the field of baroque music.

A very original show will follow on April 24th, alongside the Children’s Choir of the Teatro Regio in Turin, directed by Claudio Fenoglio, to a trio of jazz musicians: Luigi Martinale, pianist and author of the arrangements, Mauro Battisti on bass, Paolo Franciscone on battery. The title, “Sundials’ Time”, evokes the sundial (sundial, in English) as a symbol of the passing of time of music, but also of human life.

The Youth of the Academia Montis Regalis return as protagonists on 16th May led by Vanni Moretto, who will embark on a journey to discover Classicism and that very important musical form which is the Symphony.

On May 23rd, Gudni Emilsson, director of Icelandic origin, will be on the podium to guide orchestras and singers in the Vespro in F major by Michael Haydn, younger brother of the famous Franz Joseph. The concert seals the usual collaboration with Alba Music Festival.

To close the review will be the Youth of the Academia Montis Regalis with a repertoire dedicated to French baroque music. The wand will be entrusted to the transalpine Alexis Kossenko, an emerging international flutist.

The high artistic level of this programming, guaranteed by programs of different genres but always of absolute value, is combined with a strengthening of connections with the local reality, starting from the musicians themselves, often coming from the Monregalese or in any case active on the spot .

One of the goals of the season and more generally of the many activities of the Academia Montis Regalis is in fact to extend the musical culture to the widest possible number of people, spreading the healthy habit of attending concerts. In order to corroborate the pleasure of listening, various dissemination activities are planned to bring the public closer to the art of sound.

«A high-quality musical season – declared the Councilor for Culture, Luca Olivieri – who will accompany the City of Mondovì from October to June, with thirteen events of absolute variety, from baroque music to jazz, up to the singer-songwriter and the most innovative appointments , like the one with the “Modena City Ramblers” in concert in the Theater. The commitment to expand the band of public involved and to ensure that the city’s cultural life, from concerts to theatrical performances, also speaks to the youngest continues, also in the music field.
