The author will present “The wolf in the abbey” published by MONDADORI. The book is set in the year Domini 832. Surprised by a violent snowstorm, an armed contingent of the emperor Louis the Pious finds shelter at the Benedictine abbey of Fulda, in the heart of Hesse. It is impossible to resume the journey: the roads that connect Mainz to Erfurt are impassable, and the forests in the surroundings seem even more dangerous. The unconditional hospitality offered to the soldiers by the abbot Rabano, however, seems to trigger a series of bloody events that will upset the placid life of the monastery: just outside the abbey, the corpse of a monk torn by wounds that suggest the presence of a terrible beast. The author Marcello Simoni was born in Comacchio in 1975. A former archaeologist with a degree in literature, he works as a librarian. He has published several historical essays, participated in the anthology 365 horror stories for a year, edited by Franco Forte (2011). His other stories have been published in the literary magazine “Writers Magazine Italia”. With The cursed book merchant (Newton Compton 2011), his first novel, he won the Bancarella Award. In 2012, again with Newton Compton, he published “La libreria perduta dell’alchimista”, in 2013 “Il labirinto ai confini del mondo” and “L’isola dei monaci senza nome”. In 2014, the abbey of the hundred sins, and in the same year his story “La prigione delle anime” appears in the anthology “O crimini di capodanno”, also for Newton Compton. In 2016, the Inquisitor’s brand was released by Einaudi, and in 2018 the monastery of the lost shadows. In 2019 with Mondadori he published “Il lupo nella abbazia.”
