Christmas shopping and upcoming events at the Fprte di Vinadio

Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th November, the Christmas Market returns to the Forte Albertino in Vinadio, the appointment with the indoor pre-Christmas shopping along the suggestive corridors of the Fort.

There will be over 100 stalls selling typical products of excellence, Christmas items, handicrafts and many other gift ideas. Now in its 16th edition, the event is organized by the Artea Foundation in collaboration with the Municipality of Vinadio and the Comunità Montana Valle Stura, with the contribution of Compagnia di San Paolo, Fondazione CRC and Fondazione CRT. The Market will be open Saturday from 2pm to 7pm and Sunday from 10am to 6pm. The entrance ticket costs 2 euros, but is free on weekends for children up to 10 years and Saturday afternoons for Vinadio residents. Besides the possibility of a wide choice for shopping among the stalls set up along the walkways of the Fort, the XVI edition of the now traditional market, offers a rich programme of appointments and entertainment throughout the weekend.

Saturday 23rd, at the Carlo Alberto Barracks, you can join a recipes evening, framed by Christmas-themed images and music.  At 7.30 pm the dinner “The Christmas of the past”, with delicious local products. The cost for the complete menu is 15 euros; reservations are required calling 389 2144782. The screening of Sandro Gastinelli and Marzia Pellegrino’s “Natal a la Charièro Drécho de Vinai” (2011) will follow at 9 pm, with free admission. The evening will end in music, with the concert of the FeelArmonia Ensemble, which, starting at 10pm, will offer a fascinating journey around the world and songs dedicated to Christmas. Free admission.

Sunday 24th, at 10 am, there will be the long awaited opening of Santa’s House, where, throughout the day, the children will be able to deliver the “letter” with the list of their wishes to the Santa, while Mamma Christmas will offer sweets and drinks. Also in the morning, at 10 am, at the skating rink, the super provincial curling cup will be played between the Tiramisù and K51 teams. For the occasion, Polisportiva Vinadiese asd will offer free curling trials. From 10.30am until 5.00pm, instead, the Forte’s “gun rooms” will host the activity for families with children “Christmas in time of stories. How much road can a small gift make? ”, organised in collaboration with La Fabbrica dei Suoni.

Protagonists will be some rather grumpy characters: those who are too busy, those who are angry, those who are sad and disheartened … But the journey of a small, seemingly insignificant Christmas gift will trigger a series of chain events, awakening in everyone the desire to donate and to be kind. Groups leave every 20 minutes, the duration of the activity is about 50 minutes. It will be possible to enjoy tasty polenta-based menu, followed by dessert and accompanied by a good glass of Barbera red wine or syrup “Euphytos laboratory erboristic”, from 12.30, at the Carlo Alberto Barracks, with the “Lou dinar que Ischaudo – The lunch that heats you up “. Reservations are recommended at 389 2144782. There will also be a bar-restaurant with pancakes, hot chocolate, sandwiches, crêpes and mulled wine.

On Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th, in the same opening hours of the market, the exhibition area will host two thematic exhibitions. “L’escolo d’en viage”, curated by the “Mestierant of Vinadio” will show the photographic shots of the kindergartens and elementary schools of Vinadio and its fractions from the beginning of the twentieth century until the sixties. With “Dear Santa Claus” exhibition, instead, more than one hundred Christmas letters will be presented, “sent” from 2013 to 2018.

Finally, the entrance ticket to the Market will give reduced entry to the ice skating rink, which will remain open throughout the event.
