Among the Roero hills, Christmas is starred and offers to its visitors a special journey into the Piedmontese food panorama. On 7th and 8th December, the Magical Christmas village brings the starred cuisine to the stage. A programme of excellence, created in collaboration with the Piedmont Region’s Department of Food and with local companies to enhance local products, such as cheeses, Piedmontese hazelnuts, Madernassa pear or amaretti biscuits.
The Food Festival is the food event that takes place inside La Serra, in the so-called Piazza del Gusto in the Christmas village. The Piedmontese flavors and tradition are the protagonists, to be tasted and touched, also through the innovative culinary interpretations of two starred chefs of the territory.
On Saturday 7th December the historical confectionery company Virginia will offer three workshops and tasting sessions based on traditional macaroons, at 11.00 am, 3.00 pm and 4.30 pm.
On Sunday 8th at 3.30 pm, appointment with chef Enrico Crippa and his three Michelin stars, for a show cooking on the “white carrot”, also called ‘sisaro’, an ancient native vegetable of the area between Alba and Barbaresco now grown in the garden of the famous chef.
Many meetings that develop around the central theme “tradition, narration and innovation”, are designed to introduce the visitor to the Roero and Langhe food excellences. Entry to the Food Festival appointments is free, but limited, and access tickets can be collected at the information point.
Dedicated to gourmets of all ages, the Food Festival brings for the first time in the setting of the Govone Christmas Village a focus on local products with insights, tastings and workshops that combine goodness and fun. The journey through taste continues even among the houses of the Christmas Market which, with as many as 117 exhibitors selected and coming from all over Italy, is competing among 20 destinations for the title of European Best Christmas Markets 2020. Next meeting is scheduled on December 14th for the last thematic weekend “Let’s learn to play” in collaboration with La Collina degli Elfi, an initiative that involves adults and children involving them in discovering the therapeutic game.
