ICE WATERFALLS AND CRIBS
Throughout the winter discover the snowshoe trails and the ice falls, one of the most famous attractions of Pontechianale internationally. In the hamlet of Genzana the residents organise the “Widespread Nativity Scene”: life-size characters, dressed in Alpine and Occitan fashion, peek out through the streets of the town during the Christmas season, giving them postcard-like views.
CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR’S EVE
The programme opens on December 24th: Christmas Mass animated by music and songs at Chianale. On New Year’s Eve, before magic and music, both in Chianale and Pineta Nord (with the ski instructors) a bright torchlight procession will be organized on the snow. Tony and Pog, from 10.30 pm, with prestige games and a musical repertoire will offer a fun entry into the new year. Meeting in thesquare.
KIDS ON THE SNOW
On January 1st, a delicious afternoon: hot chocolate offered by the Pineta Nord bar for children enrolled in ski lessons. On Sunday, January 5th, “La Befana comes to Ponte” will bring the contagious animation of the Zenzero team, with bobsledding, workshops, games, dances in the company of the Smemorina Witch, who will give the little ones a sock full of delicacies.
SCIVOLANDIA
There are already a dozen registered crews (but membership is still open) for “Scivolandia”, the craziest event in the Alps. On Saturday 11th January, descents on board the most original vehicles, made by the participants with the most unthinkable materials (from coffins to bathtubs), with the sole aim of covering the entire runway without penalties, inflaming the audience with choreographies and sketches. Expected prizes for the most original teams (the winning group takes home a 500 euro fuel voucher) and the noisiest fans. Following the party continues in the Libac salon. THE TREFFEN LAMB
The other events on the calendar are the Festa di Sant’Antonio in Chianale with the traditional Polentata and Occitan dances (Saturday 18th) and the enchantment after the 10am mass (Sunday 19th). From 24th to 26th the Lamb Treffen, the most attended motorcycle meeting in the Alps returns. On Saturday night Rock History Night. At the beginning of February in Castello the ice will take place the festival with the Petzl Ice Academy; on February 22nd the Li Loup de Chanal alpine carnival; on February 23rd the Ski in memory trophy of Fredo Roux on February 25th Polentata with the Alpini.
