Cuneo: exhibition “With war in the eyes”

The Don Aldo Benevelli Cultural Centre of the Partisan Association Ignazio Vian of Cuneo, with the patronage of the City of Cuneo, offers at Palazzo Santa Croce in via Santa Croce 6 – Cuneo, from 10 to 19 January 2020 (hours 15-19), the exhibition “With the war in the eyes”, unpublished photographs of the war reporter Mimmo Càndito, who passed away on March 3rd, 2018.

Mimmo Càndito, journalist and writer, was one of the top names in “La Stampa”, on whose pages – as a special correspondent, war correspondent, commentator of international politics – he recounted the most dramatic world crises of the last forty years, from the Middle East, from Afghanistan, from the Gulf, from Africa, from Latin America, from the Maghreb, from Eastern Europe, from Asia. And then Australia, Peru, Turkey, India, Spain, ETA and IRA terrorists and the Indians lost in the jungles of the Amazon. Professor of Theory and Techniques of Journalistic Language at the University of Turin, he was director of the literary magazine “The Book Index” for 18 years and Italian President of Reporters Without Borders. He has won numerous journalistic awards as “Best Italian Special Envoy”. Among his latest books “There were war reporters / Stories of journalism in crisis from Hemingway to social networks”.

The exhibition will be inaugurated on Friday 10th January 2020 at 17.30 in Palazzo Santa Croce in Cuneo and will remain open until 19 January 2020, every day from 15 to 19. Free admission.
