X National gathering of Trifolau and truffle dogs

The National Trifolau and Truffle Dogs meeting turns ten years old: the event conceived and promoted by the Enoteca Regionale del Roero, which traditionally ends the truffle season in Piedmont,  starts between September and October and sees its climax with the International White Truffle Fair of Alba.

On January 19th, is a day designed  to celebrate a great excellence of the area, ambassador of Langhe and Roero in the world, His Majesty the White Truffle of Alba. The absolute protagonists of the day will be those who work to find white gold: truffle dogs and their trainers, the so-called “trifolau”. The most characteristic and fun moment of the event will be dedicated to them, the parade through the streets of the historic centre of Canale, accompanied by the local political and administrative authorities.

The over two hundred trifolau who will participate in the event will conclude the solemn walk of their dogs with the blessing by the parish priest of Canale and the coronation of the oldest dog of the season, as well as a series of other prizes that will be distributed as every year (among which, for example, the youngest trifulau and the trifolau woman of the year).

Also in this ninth edition of the event, as every year, the last truffle of the year will also be honoured by the Enoteca del Roero, which will be awarded to a young Piedmontese businessman, who has distinguished himself for having enhanced the territory with his business del Roero.
