The programme of celebrations includes at 8.30 am the deposition of a commemorative crown at the stele outside the urban cemetery and, subsequently, the deposition of two other crowns to the “Caduti per la Libertà” Monument (staircase Altipiano, 8.45 am) and at the “Monument oalla Shoah”, at the “Anne Frank” middle school (9 am). Authorities, students and participating citizens will then reach Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore, where the stone will be laid in memory of Oreste Peirone, to continue on via Beccaria, where the Mayor will discover the one in memory of Vincenzo Bellino.
The morning will end at the “Baretti” Theater, with a moment of reflection reserved for students of the school institutions dedicated to the complexity of the twentieth century, from the Holocaust to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The meeting, entitled “Man starts again: it is the beginning of a new Humanity”, will be coordinated by prof. Roberto Rossetti. Readings from “If this is a man” by Primo Levi, “Until my star will shine” by Liliana Segre and Daniela Palumbo and “I was a number. Alberto Sed tells ” by Roberto Riccardi.
