Vinum is the event dedicated to the most prestigious wines produced in the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato. Dates: from 25th to 28th April, 1st May, 4th– 5th May Where: in all the streets and squares of Alba, the capital of the Langhe, which becomes an open air wine shop with the main types of local wines: Barolo, Barbaresco, Dolcetto, Moscato, Roero Arneis, Roero, Asti Spumante and the Monferrato wines, but you can taste also many spirits produced in Piedmont. Tasting experience: from 10.30am to 20 pm. Tastings are cared and supervised by the AIS (Associazione Italiana Sommelier).
This event, organised since 2010 by the Ente Fiera Nazionale del Tartufo Bianco d’Alba, promotes the local wines offering more than 550 labels for tastings and it attacks tourists from all over the world.
The fully enjoy Vinum you can purchase a tasting card, which includes: wine glass and pocket, 16 tastings and discounts for tourist attractions. Cost: 30 euros on site and 27 euros online.
To bring out the best of the wine tasting, you can try the Street Food ëd Langa: the traditional top quality street food. The highest expression of our culinary tradition, Street Food ëd Langa in fact uses raw materials and local products, served in single portions so you can taste our local specialties walking around the city and sipping a glass of wine. Street Food ëd Langa offers: gnocchi with black truffle, egg or tomino with black truffle, Piedmontese casserole, agnolotti with stuffed Piedmontese fassone meat, Langa meatballs, hazelnut cake with eggnog or chocolate, Roero Madernassa pear and much more.
To satisfy the wine tourists there is Vinumincantina – Food&wine experience: a project which gives you the opportunity to visit some of the most important wineries of the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato and then, at the end of the tour, you will enjoy an aperitif created by great master Chefs. The experience includes a round-trip shuttle service from Alba.
For all those who prefer enjoy an aperitif in the city, there are many affiliated bars in the historical centre, where you can sip the Alta Langa Aocg with delicious finger food.
Vinum offers also many different laboratories and “side events” which frame the event, such as the workshops about the wine world and the literary presentations about the history and the culture of the vineyards tradition, held in sala Beppe Fenoglio and in the courtyard “Cortile della Maddalena”. Moreover the ONAF (Organizzazione Nazionale Assaggiatori di Formaggio) proposes a series of tastings which pair cheeses and local wines.
But Vinum is suitable also for children! Thanks to the Vinum kids project, through games, children learn the importance and the value of the local wine, which is a fundamental resource for the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato areas. This section will be organised following the theme of “wood toys”, to offer a different, new and old way of playing.
