This event was created in 2015 to celebrate, along with the procession of the Madonna del Carmine, the restoration of via Roma, brought back to its ancient splendour and become pedestrian.
It is the result of the collaboration of a group of people eager to celebrate their city. It was a great occasion to share with young, families and children, and it had an enormous success.
Light, colours, music, wonder, art, solidarity, culture, sharing, rediscovery, spirituality, hospitality: this is Cuneo Illuminata!
The 2019 edition will be held from 12 to 21 July and will feature the moon.
It was Mayor Federico Borgna, who is also president of the Cuneo Illuminata Committee, who explained the theme of the 2019 edition: “Everything will revolve around 4.56 am on July 21st, when will occur the 50th anniversary of the landing of the man on the moon: this will be the theme that will accompany the whole event “. And then, next to the usual music and light shows that will entertain visitors every night, there are many news, all linked to the lunar theme. Like the presence of the prestigious Teatro della Tosse company from Genoa, which, from July 18th to 21st, which will perform in the most characteristic courtyards of the historic center the traveling show “The nine moons” (tickets can be purchased online or at the ticket offices active on site day of the shows in the area of the event).
In corso Nizza will be installed the work of art “Planetario” by Carmelo Giammello, thanks to the collaboration with “Luci d’Artista” of the Municipality of Turin. Among the big news of this edition there is also the Notte Bianca, scheduled for Saturday 20th July, which will bring live music to the city. Museums will be opened until midnight. Then, for the more athletic, at 4.56am on Sunday 21st July, the “Run me to the moon” foot race will start, the proceeds will be donated to the Arco Cuneo Foundation for cancer research.
