Even the mountains of Cuneo, at the end of the summer, are a popular destination both for the still pleasant climate and for the numerous events.

VINADIO

OPENING OF THE FORT

In September the fort is open on Saturdays from 2.30pm to 7pm and on Sundays from 10am to 7pm. The offer for the 2019 season includes the traditional historical itinerary with a guided tour, the multimedia routes “Montagna in movimento” and “Messaggeri alati” and the stations of “Vinadio Virtual Reality” (VVR).

The 2019 season celebrates the solid vocation of the Forte di Vinadio as the ideal destination for an audience of children and young people of school and preschool age and for families. Starting from the concept of “family and kids friendly” applied to the museum environment, the Municipality of Vinadio (leader of the project “Mammamia che Forte!”) and the partners Artea Foundation, Unione Montana Valle Stura and La Fabbrica dei Suoni soc. coop. Onlus have equipped the site with some structures and supports that make it an ideal destination for families: a place to listen to stories, play games, run, give vent to their creativity and even … relax! Parallel to the historical route, suitable solutions have been devised for the various age groups, able to intrigue and involve even the youngest. For children aged 3 to 5 years the proposal is “His Majesty the Fort“, to discover the history and curiosities of the place guided by the silhouettes of the mascot Piccione Tino, the Sergeant of Fortino, along a route full of sensory interactions and with the support of a personalized book-poster. For children aged 6 to 12 the proposal is, instead, “The soldier’s diary”. Also in this case, the Colombo Tino will guide the journey to the place where the military dovecote is located, where the friendly mascot will finally feel at home, he can relax and let his friends relax too, and at the end of the visit they will have completed their educational booklet, a sort of travel diary, full of activities and games.

Finally, the older children are entrusted with the important mission of saving the church of San Fiorenzo, destined to be destroyed during the construction of the fortress. Only the delivery of a letter – “The lost letter” – to King Carlo Alberto “in person” will be able to avoid the worst. Through the free Kurubik app, participants will be involved in an exciting treasure hunt that will take them to the final solution.

But the Fort, like any place suitable for families, must also have a space in which to spend a few moments of relaxation and tranquillity. For this purpose, the courtyard of Porta Neraissa has been equipped with a relaxation area with sofas, umbrellas, and equipment for children to play and promote rest. The space is also ideal for laboratory activities and birthday parties.

There are several entry options: “Montagna in movimento” and “Messaggeri alati” at the cost of 7 euros full and 5 euros reduced; guided tour of the Fort at 6 euros full and 4 euros reduced; the virtual experience “VVR” at the price of 3 euros, or the cumulative of the entire offer at 10 euros full and 8 euros reduced. The Fort offers special openings and rates for groups and schools.

Special openings are made for groups and schools.

ABBEY OF STAFFARDA – EXTRAORDINARY OPENING

In 2018, with the consent of the Fondazione Ordine Mauriziano property, the voluntary association dialogART has cleaned and set up the premises, making them safe to visit and managing to make them visible on an experimental basis to over two hundred people. A research phase allowed us to deepen the story closest to us, of those who lived or went to school in these spaces, making the visit unique and exciting, full of anecdotes and real life, able to offer a complete picture on Staffarda, from the ancient Cistercian monks to our contemporaries. This is a special opportunity to open, make accessible and show a part of Staffarda Abbey that has never been opened before. After the success and the consensus found last year by the participants of the visit, the second edition confirms the openings also for 2019. The project has been realised thanks to the will of the dialogART association, for years manager of the Mauritian Order Foundation properties with the aim to enhance the Staffarda Abbey and improve its cultural offer.

Every second Sunday of the month, some rooms on the upper floor of the Abbey, normally closed, will be exceptionally open to the public, showing their pristine charm.

Every second Sunday of the month appointment at 11am at the Abbey of Staffarda, Revello (CN), one of the oldest Cistercian abbeys. Places are limited, reservations required. Guided tour of about 1h20 ’. The dialogART guides will accompany guests on a special visit to the Abbey, telling the story and anecdotes that characterise the place: the spirituality and quiet of the cloister, the asymmetry of the church, the ancient dormitories, the structural transformations and the multiple uses of the spaces made over the centuries. Among the desks of the old school, you will listen to the stories of the children of the past, of the teachers who taught here, of the period of the great wars, of the peasant life of the village of Staffarda in the past.
