Piozzo is ready to host the 26th edition of a special event entirely dedicated to pumpkin and its derivatives. This small town of the province of Cuneo, is generally famous throughout the world for its beer, but, once a year, it becomes the “orange city” thanks to the Regional Festival of Pumpkin, that this year will take place from 4th to 6th October.
Do not miss the classic appointments that have made famous the event: more than 550 varieties of selected pumpkins, collected in a free and unique technical-scientific exhibition in Italy and set up in a panoramic street in Piozzo, curated by some experts. Also this year you can enjoy the “Zucca Piozzo®“, a delicious culinary product made in Piozzo, patented now four years ago, to be used mainly for the preparation of risotto.
All the pumpkins are grown in Piozzo, but the seeds come from every corner of the world; pumpkins are exhibited on farm wagons and are purchasable in the various areas of stands set up along with products derived from the pumpkin, both food and not. There will be also giant pumpkins, the biggest of 2016 edition exceeded 537 kg.
At the Palazucca, every day for lunch and dinner, it will be possible to taste a rich pumpkin-based menu in the splendid setting of Albarosa. There will be also two other classic appointments: the one with the vegetable-carving chefs, who will sculpt pumpkins of all shapes and colours, creating splendid compositions and the one with the Artisan of Sound Danilo Raimondo, builder of instruments and sound objects with dried pumpkins.
There will be also the unmissable presence, given the great success of previous editions, of the taste laboratory with tasting of pumpkins on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
The 2019 workshops for schools and children will continue and will take place on the morning of Saturday 5th October with a guided tour of the fair. As in past editions there will then be some competitions such as the photography one, “Put the picture in the pumpkin” – with the Instagram section, where you can publish the photos with hashtag #fieradellazucca – and the one about “Dolci alla zucca” that will reward the best sweet prepared.
