On Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th January 2020, a giant and a female parallel races are scheduled on the Kandahar Giovanni Alberto Agnelli track.
The president of the organizing committee GualtieroBrasso focuses a lot on this return of the white circus in Piedmont after the success of 2016 with over 20,000 spectators present in the two days of competition.
For the occasion, in the race arrival area, a grandstand with over 750 seats will be set up, a hospitality tent for accredited guests and a sponsor village that will host various stands to entertain the public before and after the races.
The entire weekend will be a succession of exhibitions, meetings, music and various animations that will involve the whole country to welcome athletes, fans and tourists in the warmest and most cheerful way possible.
Saturday afternoon the central square of the town, Piazza Fraiteve, will host the awarding of the first race, the giant slalom, and the presentation of the athletes for the second race, the parallel giant: a unique opportunity to see the champions up close.
There are many initiatives in the pipeline to make the event even more spectacular in an extra-sporty key, but a novelty is already in sight: Sestriere has formalized the request for pre-candidacy to Fisi to host the World Ski Championships. Clearly it will not be short-term since Italy will host them already in 2021 in Cortina, but it is already looking after 2026, after the Milan-Cortina Olympics.
Recall that Sestriere was already home to a world championship in 1997 and an Olympic venue in Turin 2006.
One more reason to stay in this alpine resort, all with an Olympic flavor!
