The Cantamessa winery is located in the small hamlet of Bionzo, in the municipality of Costigliole d’Asti, in the prestigious vine area among the Monferrato and the Langhe. The entire productive process, from the harvesting to the winemaking in the cellars, offers to the costumer the best quality wines, warranty of genuineness.

WINE DESCRIPTION

Grape types
Barbera d’Asti.

Winemaking
The maceration with the peels lasts 15 days and it is carried out at 28 – 30°C. The malolactic fermentation is carried out into wooden barrels.

Maturation
One years into a barrel.

Main features
Red ruby colour with grenade shades which become more evident with the ageing; ethereal scent with delicate boisée and vanilla notes; the taste is dry and  harmonic.

Pairings
Meat, game, roasted, stewed and grilled meat, hard texture cheeses.

Service temperature
18 °C – 20 °C (65 °F – 68 °F)

About… Barbera.

Barbera is among the most representative vines of Piedmont and covers about 30% of the 43,000 hectares of vineyard area of ​​the region. Originally from Monferrato, the vine is cultivated mainly in the provinces of Asti and Alessandria, where it reaches its maximum expression in Barbera d’Asti, a wine that obtained the Doc in 1970 and the Docg in 2008. Barbera d’Asti is a wine linked to the ancient rural traditions that today represents a product in continuous evolution, which grows following the new knowledge in the viticultural and enological field.
