The Conterno Fantino winery is one of the most long-lived and appreciated ones of the Langhe, it was founded in the ‘80s, when Lorenzo Conterno gives his estate (at the time Colli Monfortesi) to his son Diego, to his nephew Claudio and his son-in-law Guido Fantino.

WINE DESCRIPTION

Grape types
Nebbiolo.

Winemaking
The grapes ferment macerating with the citrus peels and are then left into steel vats for 8-15 days. Then follows the aging period.

Maturation
24 months in barrels and 12 months aged into bottles.

Main features
Pale grenade red colour; intense scent with mature fruits and faded violets notes; the taste is rich and robust, very elegant and with a good persistence.

Pairings
Red meats and game.

Service temperature
18 °C – 20 °C (65 °F – 68 °F)

About… Barolo.

The Barolo is a red wine, recognised with the Appellation Denomination Origin (AOC or DOC in Italian)  produced in some municipalities of Piedmont. The original area of the grape types suitable for the Barolo DOC, recognised on 31st August 1933, includes the territories of the following municipalities: Barolo, Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga D’Alba and part of La Morra, Monforte D’Alba, Roddi, Verduno, Cherasco, Diano d’Alba, Novello and Grinzane Cavour, all located in the Cuneo province.
